What is Teen Patti?

Teen Patti, also known as Indian Poker, is a popular card game played with a standard 52-card deck without jokers. The game is typically played between 3 to 6 players, and the goal is to have the best three-card hand or to be the last player remaining after others fold.

Basic Game Setup

  • Number of Players: 3 to 6
  • Deck: Standard 52-card deck (No Jokers)
  • Cards per Player: 3 face-down cards
  • Pot: All players contribute a boot amount (minimum stake) to start the game

Game Flow

  1. Boot Amount: Before the cards are dealt, each player places a predetermined boot amount into the pot.
  2. Dealing Cards: Three cards are dealt to each player in a clockwise direction.
  3. Gameplay Begins: The player to the dealer’s left starts the betting round.
  4. Betting Turns: Players take turns in clockwise order, choosing to:

    • Chaal (Play after seeing cards)
    • Blind (Play without seeing cards)
    • Show (Compare cards with another player when only two players remain)
    • Pack/Fold (Exit the game round)
  5. Winning the Pot: The last player remaining or the player with the best hand after a show wins the pot.

Betting Options

  • Blind Player

    • Plays without seeing their cards
    • Minimum bet equals the current blind amount
    • Bet can be 1x or 2x the current stake
  • Seen Player

    • Goes after viewing their cards
    • Minimum bet is 2x the current blind amount
    • Bet can be 2x to 4x the current stake
  • Pack

    • If you think your hand isn’t good, fold and exit the round
  • Show

    • When only two players remain, one can request a show by matching the last bet

Card Rankings (Highest to Lowest)

  1. Trail/Trio/Set – Three cards of the same rank (e.g., 3 Kings)
  2. Pure Sequence – Three consecutive cards in sequence of the same suit (e.g., 5♠ 6♠ 7♠)
  3. Sequence (Run) – Three consecutive cards not in the same suit (e.g., 4♣ 5♦ 6♠)
  4. Color – Three cards of the same suit, not in sequence (e.g., 2♣ 6♣ 9♣)
  5. Pair – Two cards of same rank (e.g., Q♥ Q♠ 4♣)
  6. High Card – None of the above; the highest single card determines the winner

Show Rules

  • Both Players Seen: Either can request a show, highest hand wins.
  • One Blind, One Seen: Seen player can’t request a show. Blind player can show by paying 1x the current stake.
  • Blind vs Blind: Any player can show by paying 1x the current stake.

Side Rules (Variations May Apply)

  • Sideshow (Compromise): A seen player can request a sideshow with the previous seen player. If accepted, cards are compared privately and the weaker hand folds.
  • Limit and Pot Cap: Certain games may have maximum bet/raise limits.
  • Variations: Teen Patti has many versions (e.g., Joker, AK47, Muflis). Check each table’s rules before playing.
